A Decade of Connecting and Educating the Midwest Brainspotting Community
A community of practitioners dedicated to expanding the potential of Brainspotting

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement
We at the Midwest Brainspotting Institute are committed to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and diverse environment where all individuals – those seeking help, practitioners, and others in our community – feel valued, respected, and empowered. We recognize that Brainspotting is deeply connected to identity, culture, indigenous wisdom, and lived experiences. We strive to provide support that is affirming, culturally responsive, and accessible to all.
We acknowledge the systemic barriers that have historically marginalized many communities, including individuals from racially and ethnically diverse backgrounds, LGBTQIA2S+ populations, people with disabilities, and those with varying socioeconomic experiences.
We believe that trauma-informed care should be diversity-informed care, thus a safe and affirming space for everyone. We are committed to ongoing reflection, growth, and action to uphold these values. Together, we can create a healthier, more inclusive community.
As a team, we are dedicated to actively addressing these disparities by:
- Providing culturally competent care that honors the diverse identities and needs of those seeking our services.
- Continually educating ourselves on issues of bias, privilege, and systemic inequities in Brainspotting.
- Ensuring equitable access to services and resources, particularly for underserved communities.
- Cultivating a community where individuals of all backgrounds feel supported, included, and heard.
- Engaging in advocacy to promote mental health justice and challenge discrimination in all its forms.
